Newfoundland Dog Postcard

The well-loved Newfoundland Dog.

During the war, the Manager of Shell Oil owned a Newfoundland Dog named Pal. He later gifted the dog to soldiers of the Royal Rifles of Canada. The soldiers renamed the dog Gander. On mission to aid in the Battle of Hong Kong, Gander retrieved a hand grenade and ran in the opposite direction of his soldiers, making him a hero.
