In A Newfoundland Maple, written by Samantha Baker and illustrated by Dawn Baker, we meet Daniel who is embarking on his first fishing trip with his grandfather. On their journey, Daniel's grandfather points out a tree that has been standing for decades, and explains to Daniel how important it is to local wildlife. Everything from squirrels, to robins, to moose, uses this tree as either their home or as a source of food. Of course this intrigues Daniel, so upon returning a year later with his grandfather, Daniel says how happy he is to see that the tree is still there!
